Cookie & Advertising Notice

A straightforward disclosure: what this site's own code stores (nothing), the cookies Google sets for site-usage measurement, and exactly what would change — and be disclosed — before advertising is ever enabled.

Last updated September 24, 2026

The short version

  • This site's own code does not set cookies and does not use localStorage, sessionStorage or any other persistent browser storage.
  • A Google Analytics tag measures general website usage (which pages are visited, how often, and what devices are used). Google's scripts set their own standard cookies (such as _ga and _gid) for that measurement.
  • This site does not display advertising today and no ad network script is loaded on any page.
  • The only other traffic sent over the internet is the normal network data needed to view a page, handled by the hosting provider.
  • If advertising is ever enabled, this notice will be updated and the Privacy Policy updated before that happens.

Cookies and browser storage

The code of this site itself does not set cookies and does not write to localStorage or sessionStorage. The files you process are held only in the memory of your browser while the page is open; nothing is written to persistent storage by this site, and closing the tab discards them.

The Google Analytics tag loads from Google's servers and sets Google's standard cookies for website-usage measurement — described in the next section. These cookies are placed and controlled by Google, not by this site's own code.

Your browser, its extensions, or a third-party service embedded on a page you visit may use cookies or storage for their own purposes. Those are outside this site's control and are governed by the policies of those providers.

Google Analytics and site usage measurement

This site uses Google Analytics to measure general website usage: which pages are visited, how often, how long visitors stay, and what types of device or browser they use. This helps show which pages are actually useful so the site can be improved.

To do this, Google's tag places its standard cookies — typically _ga, _gid and _ga_<container> — to recognise returning visitors and separate distinct sessions. The information is sent to Google and is processed there under Google's privacy policy and data-retention settings (policies.google.com/privacy).

Google Analytics receives only ordinary website-usage data. It never receives your files or their contents: every file is processed on your own device and nothing you upload is transmitted to the site or to Google. You can delete these cookies in your browser settings at any time, and every tool continues to work normally without them.

Advertising and ads.txt

No advertising is served on this site today, and no advertising network is loaded.

In preparation for a future advertising relationship, this site publishes an ads.txt file at the root of the domain. That file is a public declaration, not an active advertisement. It currently declares:

  • google.com, pub-8042721406337450, DIRECT, f08c47fec0942fa0
  • This declares Google as an authorised ad-network seller for this domain. It does not mean advertising is live, and it does not grant Google or anyone else access to your files.

Advertising is not enabled purely because infrastructure exists. It will only be enabled deliberately, after an approval decision, and every page on the site will continue to work exactly as it does now with or without ads.

If advertising is enabled

If third-party advertising is ever enabled through a network such as Google AdSense, the following accurately describes how it could work. Advertising partners may use cookies, web storage and similar identifiers to:

  • show and measure ads, including personalised ads based on topics inferred from your browsing;
  • limit how often you see an ad and prevent its repeated display;
  • report on ad performance, such as when an ad is viewed or clicked.

These technologies are provided and controlled by the advertising partners themselves. This site does not receive the files you process, and advertising partners never receive file contents either, because processed files never leave your device.

Controlling personalised ads

  • For Google advertising, you can review and control personalised ads in Google Ads Settings (adssettings.google.com).
  • You can opt out of personalised advertising from participating companies through the Network Advertising Initiative opt-out (optout.networkadvertising.org) and the Digital Advertising Alliance opt-out (optout.aboutads.info), as well as the EU-based opt-out and the IAB Transparency and Consent Framework where these apply to you.
  • Turning off personalised ads does not remove advertising entirely; you may still see non-personalised ads.
  • If a consent tool is legally required in your region before advertising is shown, one will be presented to you before any ad loads.

Your files and advertising partners

Processing happens entirely in your browser on your own device. Your files are never uploaded to this site, so they cannot be shared with, sold to, or read by any advertising partner. The contents of the files you process are not part of any advertising system, now or in the future.

Changes to this notice

This notice is updated whenever the browser-storage or advertising behaviour of the site changes — in particular, before any advertising is enabled. The effective date at the top of this page reflects the latest version. The current terms and privacy policy are kept in sync, so check all three before relying on them.
