Renaming rules

Leave blank for the default name.

Re-packs your files with clean numbered names into one ZIP — everything happens locally.

The details

How it works and what to expect

How it works

  1. Drop the files you are delivering, in the order they should be numbered.
  2. Set an optional prefix, suffix, counter width and text replacement.
  3. Review the preview and download the numbered ZIP.

Renaming

Files are renamed inside the ZIP only — the originals are never touched. Rename drafts like v1_notes into 01_2026_report in seconds.

Privacy

Files are packed locally — nothing is uploaded to a server.

Practical guidance

Using this tool well

When it is the right answer, what tends to go wrong, and what to check before you rely on the result.

Why use it

Submissions are judged partly on presentation, and a ZIP of arbitrary filenames looks careless. Numbering and renaming the files into a clear order turns the archive into a sequence a reviewer can follow.

Typical situations

  • Coursework or project files must be submitted as one archive.
  • A proposal needs several attachments in a defined order.
  • A folder must be handed over with predictable filenames.

Common problems

  • Files lost their extensions

Check the preview before packing. The tool prepares copies for download and never touches your originals, so a mistake is fixed by re-running.

  • The reviewer's system cannot open the archive

Standard ZIP is widely supported; anything more exotic may not be. When in doubt, produce a plain ZIP.

  • The archive is over the upload limit

Compress the largest files before packing, or remove anything not required by the submission.

Check before you submit

  1. Open the produced archive and confirm the file order and names.
  2. Confirm every required file is present.
  3. Check the archive size against the submission limit.
