The details

How it works and what to expect

How it works

  1. Upload the PDF you want to sign and a signature image (PNG or JPEG).
  2. Choose the page, anchor, margins and opacity.
  3. Add an optional “Signed by / date” stamp, then download the signed PDF.

This places a visual signature image onto the page. It is not an advanced digital signature, but the signed PDF prints and shares like a signed document.

Privacy

The PDF and signature are processed entirely in your browser — nothing is uploaded.

Practical guidance

Using this tool well

When it is the right answer, what tends to go wrong, and what to check before you rely on the result.

Why use it

Signing electronically usually means printing, signing, scanning and emailing. Placing a signature image directly on the page returns a clean PDF in one step, with the original left untouched.

Typical situations

  • A document needs your signature and you have no printer nearby.
  • You must return a signed form the same day.
  • Several pages need the same signature block.

Common problems

  • Signing a password-protected PDF

A signature is drawn into the page itself, so the file must be readable: an encrypted PDF fails to open for signing. Unlock it in your reader — with your own password — and sign that copy.

  • The signature landed on the wrong page

You choose the page and position deliberately — check the page number before placing it, since a signature on page 7 of 7 is easy to misplace.

  • It is too small or too large

Size is a placement control. Match it to the signature line on the document rather than guessing.

  • This is not the same as a certified electronic signature

Placing an image is a visual mark, not a certificate. Where a jurisdiction or platform requires a certified signature, use the method they accept.

Check before you submit

  1. Confirm the signature is on the correct page and line.
  2. Check it is legible at normal zoom.
  3. Verify the rest of the document is unchanged before sending.
